This section introduces the pathogenesis of COVID-19 (the pathogenesis of a disease is how the disease is caused or, in other words, the chain of events leading to disease), how SARS-2-Cov Virus is transmitted, and specific risk factors for transmission. An introduction to epidemiological measures for transmissibility and estimates of the risk of disease relative to different exposures is provided.
