SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted primarily from person to person, mainly via airborne
transmission of aerosols (ultrafine particles present in the air and remain suspended
for several hours) and droplet transmission. This occurs through the exposure of the
mucosal surfaces of the host, that is, eyes, nose, and mouth, to the incoming infective
respiratory droplets. Transmission of the Virus may also occur
through fomites used by or used on the infected individual such as bed sheets,
blankets, kitchen utensils, thermometers, and stethoscopes.
